For most of my adult life, I've never had much to say about politics. I have never voted nor have I complained outwardly about the state of things in this country. I felt that if I am not voting then I really should not have much to say. It was my choice to not exercise my right to vote. Now however, given the current situation, the following are just my thoughts on things. Not at all to be construed with my wants and desires.
I'm under the belief that all politicians are demon spawn, gutter ramblers, only concerned with their needs and financial status. I am sure that there are some out there that are doing all they can for their constituents. My problem is this: A campaign, albeit presidential or senatorial, congressional, etc. should not revert to what I call "political slander" just to point out what they think the people want to hear. I could give two &*^%# about who hung out with who 20yrs ago, who took money from who, because lets be honest, they have all taken money from people who are of "shady character" in someone's eyes. Myself along with I'm sure millions of the "American People" as these people call us; want to know about what is going to be done about our recessed, depressed economy. We want to know what will be done about taxes. The Republicans want to decrease taxes on the "rich" while the Democrats wish to give tax cuts to the middle class. What about welfare, which I for one think that that is where the reform should start because its mine and your tax dollars that are paying for people to sit home and watch Oprah. There needs to be some sort of accountability there. For those who show a sincere need for it then its good but make sure that those who choose to just "beat" the system are held accountable. Random drug tests, a time period of where you are actively seeking better employment, schooling for those who desire to better their education, etc. These problems and others extend far past the last 8 years. We also want a better understanding of the proposed reform for health care and education. I want my children to have the best possible education, given to them by teachers who really give a damn about a child's welfare not whether or not they want to get paid their salary through the summer months while school is closed. We want to know more about the "reform" that is promised to come since the beginning of democracy in America but never quite achieved. We want to hear more of these factual numbers that are constantly being misconstrued by these "word slingers". We want to know more about the domestic policies that are going to be reintroduced because quite frankly, that and the economy are tied together with a tight knot.
How do we go from economic and military superpower to the laughing stock of the world? Lets not misunderstand what I am saying; I applaud the efforts of our troops both here and abroad. It’s a tremendous effort that makes me proud to say this is my country. Lets hear about what will be done to those who verbally state that they wish harm to America. Will we make an example out of them for the rest of the world to see or do we stand by idle while these people dream up and carry out their plans?
I know I for one would like to get a grasp of the security crisis. What is going to be done when the money runs out for those of my generation and afterwards? The vast majority of Americans are not "trust fund" babies. We actually have to work day in day out and try like hell to save all we can to make sure that when you have given 50-60 years working for someone, that you are not just swept under the rug. I mean if it is expected that monies will run out, stop taking about trying to fix it, FIX IT.
In short, there are a vast majority of things that should be talked about during these debates that are just touched on. There are questions I have in my mind that I need to have answered before I say that I will vote for any one of these parties. Again, these are just my thoughts. It is not my intent to offend anyone who may read this.
